At Remind Notifications, SMS charges are additional fees to process and send the text message to your customers for back in stock and reminder alerts.
To start sending SMS to your customers, you should buy SMS packs - credits. Credit packs are non-expiring. If no SMS is sent, credits will remain. Credits used per SMS depend on destination + message length.
The number of SMS you can send is fixed. How many SMS you can send depends on the country the SMS is delivered to (the country your customers are located in) and the number of segments you’re sending.
How to start using SMS alerts?
To start using SMS back in stock alerts, you need to enable it from your app dashboard and top up your SMS balance.
What are SMS credits?
SMS credits are prepaid balances used to send SMS notifications. Credits used per SMS depend on the delivery country and message length.
Why doesn’t 100 credits always equal 100 SMS?
SMS pricing varies by country and carriers charge per message segment. Longer messages (or emojis) can use multiple segments, which costs more.
How do you calculate credit usage?
We convert the actual delivery cost of each SMS into credits and deduct it from your balance.

What is a segment?
An SMS message is delivered in small “blocks” called segments. If your message is longer than one segment, it is split into 2 or more parts — and each part is charged.
Segment limits depend on the characters you use:
If your message contains only standard characters (letters, numbers, basic punctuation), 1 segment fits up to 160 characters. If it goes over 160, it becomes multiple segments of 153 characters each.
If your message includes emojis, non-Latin characters, or smart quotes, the limit becomes 70 characters per segment, and 67 characters per segment for multi-part messages.
Note: If your SMS includes emojis or special characters (emoji, many non-Latin scripts, “smart quotes”, etc.), it can switch to a format that fits fewer characters per segment—so the same message may be split into 2+ segments and cost more (sometimes ~2x). Symbols like { } [ ] \ ^ ~ | € can count as extra characters and push the message into another segment.
To keep costs down, keep messages short and use plain text.
